Research & Development
Intertrust maintains a strong research
and development team of engineers and scientists who specialize
in technologies related to DRM and trusted distributed
computing. We are active in standardization and the scientific
research and technology development communities. Intertrust
continues to promote and develop reference technologies
aimed at driving the adoption of DRM products and services
in the marketplace.
Our pioneering DRM products led the
world in functionality and sophistication. The features
in those products have been widely emulated in many third-party
DRM products available on the market.
Today, we are working on driving a new generation of DRM
technologies for the consumer media industry. As a market
enabler, our approach is to field reference technologies
that help people build DRM products and services and/or
allow them to deploy services that permit interoperability between
DRM systems. We believe that the market is best served
by building the right DRM tools for the right jobs rather
than being locked in to a “one size fits all” DRM platform.
In addition to conducting R&D on such systems, we are
also active in driving standardization around our platforms
to make our technology available on open terms.
Currently, we have two reference
technology environments:
In addition to developing reference technologies, Intertrust
is spearheading two standardization efforts in the consumer
media industry. Industry initiatives include:
